Culvert refers to the practice of land-filling valleys in order to create more practical, levelled city-space. The Ouseburn Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne came into being through a series of successful protests that blocked the culverting of the Ouseburn Valley. This was a personal piece for me as I was Chair of the Ouseburn Trust for three years.
