Our Glass and Ceramics Degree Show took place at the National Glass Centre. My pieces (some of which are shown here) were made in response to recent events in the USA, where radical new policies have been put in place to delete or redact any discussion of diversity, equality and inclusion, where the voices of marginalised communities have been suppressed or removed, and where trade policies are creating global economic instability.
These are anxious times, and so I take some comfort in the thought that the events of the present will ultimately be consigned to the past. In this work I’ve created a series of dystopian architectural forms that peel back layers of history to reveal a degraded vision of contemporary politics.
