I’m lucky enough to be working in Vancouver for three months (March – June, 2024) and have had the chance to visit glass artist John Nutter in his studio on Granville Island, where he explained his sandblasting techniques.
I love the way he uses these deep sandblasting incisions in his glass pieces and I’m going to be exploring this technique further in my own ceramics work.

I’ve also been able to become a member of Cafe au Clay Studio, pictured here, and I’ll be working there for the duration – trying different masking and erosion techniques to create patterns in the clay.
One thing I love about making overseas is the access to different materials – I’m working with a beautiful dark brown clay at the moment called plainsman coffee
